Aghnaagssssshhhhttbleagh ...

Ironically, I have a horrible cold that is making me feel like death warmed up now that I have my life back, but nonetheless, I live!

Sent the mag to the printers on Friday after working a truly shocking number of hours in the past few weeks, Happily, I recovered from February fatigue just in time to hit overworked exhaustion. Yay!

My entire life is something of a debacle at the moment -- onto my third load of laundry for the day, need to put previously washed things away, have been trying to write but am so tired that I just typed preciously watched in the previous sentence, have guests appearing in a week and must find the floor before then, need to re-do my Help Japan donations because the receipts are somewhere amid my 8572 pieces of unread email, and I am knitting my third baby hat for oceaxe 's baby, having failed to post the other two in time for the baby to be the same size as the hat.

In happy news, I own THE CUTEST EARRINGS IN THE WORLD. LJ crafter/artist kath_ballantyne  is taking commissions to help pay for her and her partner's car and meds -- both essential items out in regional NSW. Very reasonable prices and super-fast delivery.

And in other happy news, I do not need surgery on my manky tendon! Well, at least, not if my luck holds. While the tendon currently resembles a frayed bootlace, all of my physio and barre work mean that the ankle itself is lovely and strong and flexible, so the surgeon has sent me off to get orthotics so that my reconstructed foot will be on the same angle as my unreconstructed one, and has given me a firm instruction to wear boots until it's all better.

Me: So your prescription is to go shoe shopping for boots?
Surgeon: Yes. Stout ones with good firm support.
Me: You are the Best Doctor Ever.

I turned up at work the following day in my Docs with skull and crossbone laces, and assured my colleagues they were medically necessary.

Many apologies if I have left any glaring typos, I have just corrected a sufficient number to convince me that I should go to bed and worry about giving the Red Cross more money tomorrow, lest I accidentally be far more charitable than I intended.

Miss you all enormously!

HUGS YOU BACK! I staggered up the road and bought a new pair today, black and stompy, just the way I like em. And the earrings are terrific. I think I need a special occasion to wear them, though, they're too cute for day-to-day.

Your post made me laugh out loud in a couple of places, which I shouldn't have done, given that I have a cough, but it was worth it.

Great to hear you're still alive and the worst stress is passed, and that you can avoid surgery by wearing cool boots. I love it.

Yes, I'm still around, still hopeful and still check briefly every day just in case. I'm an optimist as well as an eccentric comment writer.

So I hope with ardour and another plea, that when all is calm and you've had a good long sleep or two, (and in an ideal world before your guests descend, but I accept that ideal and reality rarely coincide), I and all your many other fans of 'Fathers who could do with..' will actually find out *what happens next*!

But seriously, well done for surviving all that madness, and take some well earned relaxation now.

I have written another 1000 words since last we spoke on the topic! I had a theory that I would be so filled with energy that I would finish it as the same time as the mag, but that was before I had to do so much work fixing all the bloody craft. Next issue I am just going to commission everything and shoot the lot myself!

They're covered in brain matter! (Yes, that's right, the end of the story is a zombie adventure!)

If I believed that I'd be very unhappy, but it made me laugh anyway. I do understand the whole doing too much thing though, and the good intentions that never quite get there. Still, my optimism is eternal. And I remember only too clearly just what a cliffhanger it was, and dearly want to know what happens next. As you know *g*.

Still, after such mania you deserve some proper rest for a bit, so I won't hassle you - for a while anyway, *g*. I hope you feel rejuvenated, refreshed and re-energised very soon.

And 1000 words is better than none.

Next time, yes, commission and shoot. Real life work shouldn't get in the way of your glorious talent. Not to imply you aren't equally brilliant there, but you see I don't knit and I do love your writings.

I lol'd at the doctor story - I can just imagine your face. And hee to the repeated hat knitting. That could be a metaphor for my life right now too - too much to do!

I'm glad to hear the load is lightening, though I hope you feel better soon - it seems like you've been sick a lot the last six months. *frowny face of worry*

*chicken soup and hugs*

Been mostly healthy as a healthy thing, save for evil gallbladder, which causes fatigue and is treated with a low-fat diet, which causes fatigue, leading to ... you guessed it! I started to feel wholly over that around mid-March, which is when I started working 15 hour+ days.

HAHAHAHAHA Fucking HA, Universe!

And yes -- too much to do! But look at you getting it done!
Bryoneybryoneybrynn on April 17th, 2011 02:31 pm (UTC)
Alas, I think the icon suggests more forward movement than is actually occuring. But hey forward at all is a victory at this point.

So will you get to rest a bit now? Or are you just gearing up for more busy.
blamebramptonblamebrampton on April 17th, 2011 02:38 pm (UTC)
REST! A couple of weeks of mild busy, then a month or two of not very much at all! Before another three-four months of crazy cakes. Typical.

thankyou for the praise and the pimp.

All my joints and ligaments are too lose but I've always had particular trouble with my ankles. Went over on them twice this week. When I asked my doc about it he told me to go to Sydney and buy a pair of Docs. Never could aford them.
I do have a lovely chunkey pair of Colarados from about 8 years ago that are still going strong. Only problem is how heavy they are. Brings the fatigue crashing down twice as fast.

Hope things stay settled for a while and you get a chance to rest.

Can you just search your inbox? I do it in Gmail all the time as I'm always losing things

"...having failed to post the other two in time for the baby to be the same size as the hat." This made me laugh so much, but kids do grow at an alarming speed! :D

As I've already told you - just send me your address and I'll send you the pic. You don't need to donate again, unless you want to, of course.

And yay for comfortable boots. That was our very first conversation online, a few years ago when you started posting to LJ. ;D

Well done with getting the mag done! (New boots! Will you post pics?)

I immediately though of Docs when reading "stout ones with good firm support", and when I then read how you turned up at work - *love*

Today was the first day in a long time I actually saw the wood of my desk again, so I'm sure you'll find your floor too. Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite!

Emailing you back is one of today's jobs! But yeah, I'll be up to say high to everyone on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I am even taking my jodphur boots in vague hopes of getting a ride in this year! So far behind in life, but I have oodles of praise for your bookmaking posts and research, it's all coming along beautifully!
