In search of a really dumb answer, and further proof of dimness
Brit flisters, I need your help. There is a particular type of Fondant Fancy that I think comes in a pink or yellow packet and definitely has your traditional pink, yellow and brown-iced cakes, but they are diamonds not squares and they are especially awful/brilliant and I would know them to look at them in an instant, but cannot remember the name or where one buys them to save my life.

You can buy them at a two storey supermarket of a very common type right next to either Victoria or Green Park.

I was hit in the head with a taxi, and then bounced on said head across a major thoroughfare, I have a perfectly legitimate excuse for being this vague!

That said, I have no excuse for my appalling tardiness when it comes to birthdays. You would think I could make it through one month, but no.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY for today to joanwilder , sparemint  and vaginal_parfait , I hope it is absolutely spectacular for each of you!

to banbury , lietothedevil  and unomesowell  for the 19th and to the lovely angelofcaffeine  and suonguyen  for the 17th, I hope that it has been filled with festivities, or at least pleasantly calm!

You know, I recognise all the words, but the language just doesn't compute *headdesk*

Ah well. Hey, lovely. How's the foot coming along?
blamebramptonblamebrampton on January 23rd, 2011 10:29 am (UTC)
It was doing so well and this week it has been an ABSOLUTE PAIN IN THE PROVERBIAL! Maybe it is the reverse of when it aches in the cold and has decided to just be bloody painful in the heat. Obviously the solution is a vehicle powered by swimming that I can use to both move about the place AND keep cool at the same time!

As to fondant fancies, think petits fours, but instead of being posh dainty little delicate things created by artisinal pastry chefs, they are the ones made my a lovely lady called Mavis down the road, and you'd never guess that wasn't real butter in there. Or cream. Or cake, for that matter.
Meredythmeredyth_13 on January 23rd, 2011 10:36 am (UTC)
Well, feet do tend to swell in the heat, and fluid in the tissue wouldn't help when everything's already stupid bad.

I'm sorry it's giving you gyp, honey. Maybe you just need one of those mobile spa things, and someone can tow you around? :D

Mmmm, cake. *absolutely does NOT need cake*
blamebramptonblamebrampton on January 23rd, 2011 10:43 am (UTC)
I think I may have overdone the stretching and loosened things up to the point where they are a bit less stable than they could be. Have been concentrating on strength this week to see if that helps. Or, it could just be evil ;-)
Meredyth: Malasadasmeredyth_13 on January 23rd, 2011 10:46 am (UTC)
Urgh! Evil is a distinct possibility, but knowing you, overdoing it is also on the cards. *hugs*

Radox footbath, anyone?

blamebramptonblamebrampton on January 25th, 2011 03:10 pm (UTC)
I cleaned the bath in order to try a footbath, but it has been too hot ever since. CURSED, I tell you. It IS evil, after all!
calanthe_fics on January 23rd, 2011 10:29 am (UTC)
I only know the square ones I'm afraid - never seen a diamond shaped one.
blamebramptonblamebrampton on January 23rd, 2011 10:30 am (UTC)
Maybe I'm insane? I mean, it's never outside the realms of possibility ...

OH! And talking with Treacle earlier, we decided that you are the reason she writes so much porn. You should be very proud!
blamebramptonblamebrampton on January 23rd, 2011 10:41 am (UTC)
That was what Rai and I decided last night, but then I became convinced they were more diamond-shaped than that. Which may because they aren't those ones, or may be because I have the memory of a half-drunk gibbon. I blame the taxi!

And YES! You realise this makes Treacle our love child? I think she will be thrilled.
calanthe_fics on January 23rd, 2011 10:42 am (UTC)
Maybe you only ever saw squashed packets.

Is everything okay with everyone today? It's been really quiet!
blamebramptonblamebrampton on January 23rd, 2011 10:46 am (UTC)
HEE! Quite possible!

I think that all the Australians are flat with heat (and a few are probably building levee banks as the floods move south down the continent), while the Brits are crossing their fingers too much to type while watching the ODI (grim), and a sizable percentage of the Yanks are freezing their fingers off. The others are probably having a proper Sunday -- very sensible!
calanthe_fics on January 23rd, 2011 10:48 am (UTC)
I cannot face cricket without Stuart Broad. I am shallow - I need teh pretty.

Do I really have to go to work tomorrow?

Only 2 weeks until centerparcs!
blamebramptonblamebrampton on January 23rd, 2011 10:56 am (UTC)
Same. And One Dayers aren;t real cricket.

Do you have a sore throat and headache? (I ask because I do, but I also have a lot on, so I am prepared to bequeath mine to you if you have some sick leave up your sleeve.) And I'm not sure if I should admit this, but whenever you say Centerparcs, I imagine Butlins. And you in your vintage bathers.
calanthe_fics on January 23rd, 2011 10:59 am (UTC)
No, but I do have a haemorrhoid (you did sort of ask). I have had bum problems for about 3 weeks. It started with constipation, which I am Not. Allowed. to get. And now there is blood. And pain. I'm trying not to think about it too much.

I know, centerparcs is like holiday hell for people with no kids. But oddly I am really looking forward to it! I have bought some surf shorts to wear with my black cossie, and will of course be taking my red number.
blamebramptonblamebrampton on January 23rd, 2011 11:02 am (UTC)
I wouldn't say hell, but yeah, the sort of place people like me go to, are suitably astonished and impressed, and then leave for somewhere less reputable ;-)

I think that totally deserves a day off work, you need to rest on your front!

As calanthe_fics says, I think you're talking about French Fancies - if you remember them being more diamond-shaped, perhaps you used to buy the store-own version?

*now wants French Fancies*

Mr Kipling now does a giant sized French Fancy birthday cake - utterly disgusting yet strangely addicitve/

I think M calls them 'iced fancies'... he's from Yorkshire way, though, so I'm not sure if that's a regional thing.

And what?! Were you really hit in the head with a taxi? I ask, not because I doubt the plausibility of such a thing, but because nobody else seems to have mentioned it...
blamebramptonblamebrampton on January 23rd, 2011 11:31 am (UTC)
Oh yes. NEVER CYCLE IN SYDNEY!!!! What really upset me was that the bastard went around a car stopped at the red turning arrow before running said arrow. Prick.

Still, flawless excuse for the moments when my brain fails utterly!
מִרְיָם רִבְקָהangelofcaffeine on January 23rd, 2011 08:53 pm (UTC)
Thank you for the birthday wishes! And now I am craving French Fancies, om nom nom.
blamebramptonblamebrampton on January 25th, 2011 03:11 pm (UTC)
Have one for me! Oh, what am I saying, have at least three for me, you can't have one (but stop at five, that's ugly enough, six is just gruesome, trust me!)
being_herebeing_here on January 23rd, 2011 09:54 pm (UTC)
I am totally going to research the french fancies at Sainsbury's tomorrow night *is helpful and selfless*
blamebramptonblamebrampton on January 25th, 2011 03:12 pm (UTC)
Your kindness knows no bounds! Actually, you may be able to help me track down where I found them and what they were -- what night was Merlin on last November? I bought them as snackery for crap TV night.
being_herebeing_here on January 25th, 2011 03:16 pm (UTC)
Saturday evening! Can you remember where you got them?
blamebramptonblamebrampton on January 25th, 2011 03:22 pm (UTC)
Not offhand, but we were at the British Museum earlier that day, so if I go through my notes and receipts, I may be able to track it down! I remember that I bought them at a two-storey shop right next to a tube station, on the corner of a street. Helpful, yes? Poor brain, it is made of sago!
