Good and bad ...
A very happy birthday to teas_me , you lovely thing, you! I hope that it is full of fabulousness!

In not good news, Queensland's awful flood crisis, which is now the worst in recorded history, has turned even more deadly as flash floods engulfed Toowoomba today. My thoughts go out to everyone in the region and those with friends and family in the area. It's staggeringly horrible.

It's pretty awful up there. I keep phoning my mother to check on her - fortunately she's on high ground, although the roads around her are mostly under water now.

Her boyfriend's property is going under - he's been checking in and letting her know how many bricks up the house the water is, and he has some slightly higher ground that the stock can get to - not devastating yet, but if it keeps raining ...

Toowoomba, though, OMG. Brammers - it's on TOP of the bloody RANGE! How does water do that ON TOP of a bloody mountain range? So many people missing now, and dead, and every time I phone mum I can hear the rain on the roof. And I swore I would NEVER complain about rain - and I won't, because this country can NEVER have enough water, but man, could it maybe just not be so - there?

Mum was planning on moving to Esk or near there when she sells her place. We may be re-thinking that plan. :(

I'm watching Sunrise and S.E QLD has had emergency warnings issued for areas in & around Brisbane; including the area I live. There is apparently flash flooding on it's way. :/

I just wish the rain would fuck the hell off! I'm sick of it.

Thank you so much, sweetie! You rock hardcore!

My building got evacuated and the Ipswich Motorway is going to be shut very soon due to flooding around the Oxley area.

It is a nightmare on the roads.

This is some footage from Toowoomba yesterday.

Also, roads in inner city Brisbane have been closed off and people are being evacuated from Fortitude Valley as the river bank broke in West End. The secure parking places in the city have lifted the boom gates to let people out for free so they can get home.

What I'm watching on the news looks fkn horrible. Stay safe, you lot.

It should stay on the other side of the Great Dividing Range in NSW, which is at least less populated, so it's possible to evacuate everyone. In Queensland the flash flooding yesterday has been catastrophic, and it's not known how many lives have been lost yet. It's hideous and heartbreaking.

I keep watching the news in disbelief - I used to live an hour from Toowoomba (in Dalby, which is also flooded) and I cannot believe what has happened - it's so high up, it's one of the last places I thought the floods would hit. Half my family is in Queensland so we're a bit concerned but there's no immediate danger to them at the moment. It's just horrible. They keep repeating the death toll and the number of homes that are going to experience damage. It's horrible. :(

It's hard to believe what our country can dish out sometimes. For me down here in the driest state of the driest continent on earth it seems incomprehensible that people are losing their lives to torrents of water.

Just looked at the potential flooding map for the next few days and it's scary how many communities will be affected in Brisbane.

I send heartfelt please to the universe for you all and your furry friends to stay safe.

I'm in Sydney, perfectly safe! Mr B's mum is in Cabooluture, though. But she is on the second storey ...

Glad you'll be ok :). Hope Mr B's mum is ok too - even on the 2nd floor I'll bet it's scary up there.

I've got some mates in Woolloongabba and looks like they'll be ok, but you never know.

I sincerely hope no one else gets hurt and am still gonna send pleas to the universe for everyone to be ok.

The universe should bloody well listen to you, as you are speaking good sense!
