Advent-ures in denial
I watched the cricket. I don't wish to talk about it.

In much happier news, we went for a wander up to Newtown (a short walk up the hill), planning to buy gelati in the centre of town. The plan was derailed by a glimpse of giant Christmas lights down an Erskineville street, obviously we had to go and check them out. And we will go back tomorrow and take photos because it was amazing. Having gone halfway down the hill that takes you to the South Newtown route, we decided to keep going, and were glad we did as we ran into more mad decorations and some cats in need of patting. Already the evening was improving.

But then we came up King St and there, near our fave bike shop, was a new grocery shop, with a sign out the front proclaiming it had organic, local and imported produce. Being wankers, we obviously had to go in. They had five different brands of organic ice-cream! And my fave apple juice, plus the black Lindor I love and responsibly harvested smoked salmon. I turned to Mr B and told him I was going to check for the holy grail of shop produce, Pim's biscuits in the chocolate mousse flavour. These are delicious crap biscuits that I used to love when I was younger and have only ever found in two shops in Australia, both of which stopped stocking them immediately afterwards. It seemed impossible, but I ducked into the biscuit aisle to check ...

They had them in the raspberry flavour. The owner says he'll order the chocolate in for me.

And bring on Melbourne.

Delicious crap? Is that like shabby chique or ...?

That's actually quite a good analogy! On the one hand, you know there is much better out there and that this is a bit dodgy. On the other hand, it's really appealing!

Ah, delicious crap food, what would life be without it?

Pictures, yes!

Looking forward to seeing the Chrissie lights piccies, and what an amazing evening that turned out to be. You enjoy those Pims choc mousse biskies when they arrive - its like a little Christmas present from the universe isn't it...
And take comfort in the fact that the series is now setting up to be interesting on more fronts than the ongoing (and fully acknowledged) gorgeousness that is the England cricket team :)

I will see how things go. It may have to be a fly-in, fly-out day given the state of things over the next fortnight, but if we have an evening in town, a comfy pub supper and natter sounds like a great plan!
