Advent, at 3am. Why am I awake??
It's my own fault, I was IMing with friends until nearly two and then my physio takes half an hour, after which I had to shower, and wash my hair ... and hair reminded me of what I meant to write on Wednesday.

I was at my lovely punk hairdressers' having my hair coloured stripily and cut far too much (I do complain about this, but my cutter is Irish, and whenever I say, 'But it's a foot shorter these days than when I first let you cut it, and we'd agreed on a few inches!' she replies with 'Ah stop fussing, it's still long. It was crazy lady before. It looks good when I'm done. Stop telling me how to do hair. You English are always oppressing my people!' by which point I am both laughing and having to concede that it is certainly bouncier shorter. Which is beside the point.)

The POINT is that the lovely apprentice who was painting on the colour was chatting to me about how she grew up being dragged to Cons by her mum -- 'Because she's massively into fandom, and she's on LiveJournal and is always hanging out with her friends from there and she meets people from all around the world, it's sort of cool really. She totally understands my Eric from True Blood thing. She is the queen of fangirly squee!'

Alas, encourage her to go on as I might, I couldn't work out WHICH fandom her mum was in! Next time, more questions!

Dear god, that is Small Girl's future, right there, isn't it?

I am afraid so, but hairdressing girl is a delight, so don't fret!

That's such a cool story! Growing up being dragged to conventions. Poor girl. I hope she was fed and watered regularly cause that's not necessarily a priority when I've been to conventions.
