I have boots! Adorable red steampunky ones! And hot chocolate powder. Alas, not the greatest cheaty hot chocolate powder in the world (Perugina Nero 70%, so terribly bad for you but so very worth it), but another, similar Italian brand that may or may not be good. If it's not, people who live locally will be finding surprise sachets in their post. For hangover days. Or to keep passing on until we find people who are happy with anything sugary.

Melbourne. It has good stuff.

Even better, it has glorious people. The brilliant and really quite sexy pushdragon native guided and revealed yet more of her genius for finding the gastronomic treasures of the Southern Barcelona, while I FINALLY managed to meet meredyth_13 .

Now, I was meant to meet Mere a year and a bit ago, but circumstances intervened. She had been describing what to look for when we met up, though, and the descriptions ran along the lines of madwoman roughly the size of a barge. I was convinced she was selling herself short. In fact, I am now convinced that the only possible part of that description that could pertain to her is mad, as she is gorgeously tall with amazing legs and looks younger than me, despite me being younger than her and looking younger than I am. And it was not just the fabulously hip hair!

We hit Persuasion, Fashion in the Age of Jane Austen at the National Gallery of Victoria and it was very worth the hit, even though it's a small exhibit. There will be photos. Especially of the finger dress. All will become clear.

I am now knackered and slightly deranged, with double flight ankle puffiness, and failed to catch up with the lovely Bec and Deense, because I had to run back to Sydney, but I am happy to report that my Liking Fandom People I Have Met rate continues at the ideal 100%. And I saw photos of spark_of_chaos and geoviki ! *Plots more travel to meet them in actual person!*

Oooh! I'd love to see pictures of the boots. It's awesome that you had fun in Melbourne!

There will be! But now, bathtime! If I get my act together, exhibition and she pix tomorrow. Ooh! I found a good reasonably priced jewellery shop, too, if you want the details. And if you want a good Italian food shop (erratic stock, but good cheeses and pasta) or excellent Spanish restaurant, let me know!

Oooh, I'd love to know. Melbourne's so big that it's difficult to find awesome places there unless you live there. :)

Woo hoo! :D Fluevogs? Pics tomorrow? :D And Push and Mere, I'm GREEN with envy. *plots trip to Aus*

*grabs you and steals you to Aus*

When the ladies were telling me about spending time with you I was the green one, darling.

And yes, she bought Fluevogs - they are amazing! Think Dorothy + the Wicked Witch all in one incredible ankle boot.

*hugs you*

I look forward to it! Both seeing Brammers's catch and being spirited away to Australia. The latter may take a bit more time and a couple of airplanes, but when it does happen I'll be sure to let you know!

very nice. So good to meet fandom friends :)

Okay, so I am now officially cross at myself for letting the rain that day stop me from prettying myself up. But I didn't know I'd have leverage to use that photo as visit-promo material, lol! :) But we are sparkly, honest! And we have actual Roman walls in the underground passages as you can see from the background of the photo ;)

george pushdragonpushdragon on October 18th, 2009 02:03 am (UTC)
Oh I did tell her about the Roman walls, don't worry! I'm still as excited about them as I was when we met. And there was no need for prettying up because quite apart from your natural prettiness, you were standing next to me on a backpacking tour where I had left all but the most rudimentary beauty products at home and had barely seen a mirror for upwards of two weeks :) I have very fond memories of our mai tais and the yummy cake and the excellent guided tour of Sofia - thanks again!

I too am putting in a cote for pictures of the red boots. Though of course, a "finger dress" sounds equally intriguing.
silentcssilentcs on October 17th, 2009 06:33 pm (UTC)
Sorry, I can't spell today. cote = vote, not some strange truncated dovecote structure.
Meredyth: Arthur Appealingmeredyth_13 on October 17th, 2009 09:18 pm (UTC)
Mad as a cut snake, I tell you!

If you're referring to the plaits of 'OMG I have to be somewhere in -10 minutes and my hair's wet" as hip? *is wildly chuffed*

*blushes more*

I won't argue with you, you'd kick me, and I rightly fear your left foot. It was so SO wonderful to finally have the full-Brammers experience. I curse my stupid body and the delay. You, my dear, are every bit as amazing as I had previously believed, and then some. I do hope it's not a once in a blue moon experience. The spare room offer will remain valid without expiry.

♥ x a really big number.

Persuasion, Fashion in the Age of Jane Austen is an awesome name for an exhibit. :D

*vouches for the hotness of the boots and the Meredyth*

*pines for more Spanish food and Brammers*

Fantastic day - come again ANY TIME!!

What a great time, new, hot boots,
good friends, and enjoying art.
Good memories for all. I am glad you had a good time, you deserve it.
