Oh, to have been in the taxi behind ...
spark_of_chaos! Over here! You need to read this!

As does any other Michael Schhumacher fan. To set the scene: the Schumacher family is in a taxi, running late for a plane. Michael decides that he can probably get them there that little bit faster ...

The Telegraph has a great photo in their coverage, too.

I'm not familiar with that man, but he's welcome to fly down any time and commandeer my taxi to the airport. :)

He is the greatest Formula 1 driver ever, according to the statistics. Some say he lacked heart and was all about the precision; I say they never saw him sob his heart out after winning the race that took him past Senna's record. What's that you ask? Is this a house of Ferrari fanatics? Why yes, yes it is!
spark_of_chaosspark_of_chaos on December 24th, 2007 10:52 am (UTC)
Do you remember how he drove past Ralf's crashed bolid lap after lap craning his neck to see that Ralf is okay? I think I cried at that race, it was heart breaking. And how he won the race after their mother died. I miss him so much!

Oh, I know! And it's not just the hidden sweetness, he has a great sense of humour, too, even if it's at the kooky end of German humour. Which press conference was it when Mika Hakkinen comforted him? Was it the Senna one or after his mother died? I cried at that, such grace and generosity from the Finn. But we've seen it the other way around, too. I miss all of that set. Though we can keep Lewis and Kimi (but not Lewis's dad).

Yes, better you should be behind that taxi instead of in front of it, considering your relationship with motor vehicles. *sniggers*

Cruel, and yet accurate;-)

In fact there was a celebrated Schumi running into another driver incident in his younger days, but in more recent years it was all about people running into him.

Just concerned for your noggin, though purely selfish about it--another knock to your head and I might be the thing you've forgotten, instead of, you know, French.

BIG LAUGHS! And I wouldn't forget *you*. Your name, maybe, but not you!

PS your icon is godlike.

Of course, it's Eddie. We could start a religion with him at the center. There would be cake!

We would make so much more money than Scientology has ever dreamed ...

... and no Tom Cruise!!

There, I've now used all three of my Eddie icons. *grins*

I think that should actually be one of our commandments.

Thou shalt not allow Tom Cruise.
Thou shalt eat the pie.
Thou shalt not use eyeliner in vain ...

Thou shalt wear chunky heels with panache...

And that one would be my failing, my sin.

Thanks for pointing this out. The story put a much needed smile on my face.
I am not much of a Michael Schumacher fan but I'd let him drive my car anytime.:-}

You're very welcome. It gave me a laugh, too. I loved the fact he still gave the driver a big tip!
spark_of_chaosspark_of_chaos on December 24th, 2007 10:43 am (UTC)
I laughed my face off! (As you might imagine!) I bet that cab is going to become one of the city's most treasured sights, lol! I am rather certain that he did tricks the taxi driver would lose his licence over if he dared copy...

Merry Christmas!
blamebramptonblamebrampton on December 24th, 2007 02:58 pm (UTC)
I am hoping to have my great Christmas wish and wake to see a YouTube video from an in-cab security camera. SO glad you had a chance to stop by, I thought of you the moment I read it!
