Let's pretend I have a better excuse …
I have been running around like a headless chicken for most of this year, and will not get a chance to rest for another month or two. This is probably going to be OK, I am ticking off a lot of things on the to-do lists and have A Plan for the psycho work months that are about to leap on me. But I am failing at fandom. Two stories begun, and then left. Oh well, there's a second half to the year!

Walking is interesting at the moment: Easter was spent traipsing up hill and down dale, and I have needed to have a feet-up day since then. But Mr B gave me a fitness tracker for my birthday, and so I feel obliged to walk at least 10,000 steps a day, and then there has been a lot of gardening to do since I got back from Easter camping … The result is that I have a new theme song, which goes 'Stiff, stiff, stiff, I am so very very stiff!' Naturally, Mr B thinks this is hilarious. I keep reminding him that this is knee, not penis-related.

Easter was mostly good fun. I had a moment of feeling like the worst person ever when I shouted at a kid who had done something dangerous, but to the kid's enormous credit, she accepted that she had done something dumb and listened to me going through the safety rules and then followed them. I was impressed. I like kids, they don't mind the fact that rules exist and they don't begrudge you trying to uphold them.

Over the coming two months, I am going to think on that child and compare her favourably to my ad department. It will hopefully stop me murdering anyone in the ad department. That and the fact I can't possibly catch any of the bastards if they try to outrun me.

It's times like these you need a segway! Or a giant robotic arm so you can stop those attempting to flee your wrath without having to get up from your chair. :D One can dream, right?

I hope everything goes well in your job, and in your fitness goals! Remember, stiff muscles are temporary...though sometimes they make me just want to curl up and never move again. I may have to learn your theme song.

It is a good song! My legs have become limber again now but my back has been stiff since I planted lots of bulbs last Sunday, so I have had another week of singing it.

And I keep meaning to have a go on a Segway, but haven't. Have you? What was it like?
illereynillereyn on April 21st, 2015 02:02 pm (UTC)
I did a Segway tour of Prague, it was really good! Bit scary at first, because the machine moves by sensing changes in your balance...which then messes with your own sense of balance. But you get used to it soon, and then you're whizzing along! Definitely appeals to unfit and lazy people like me :P Saw security guards and police on Segways too, definitely handy for chasing people down.

Keep safe in the storm. I've been listening to it bang on my windows the entire day, makes me really glad to be indoors.

The cats have all been wailing at not being allowed out for their traditional garden runs, so we opened the door during a lull in the proceedings. Monster came straight back in, Cookie held out for a minute or two, then gave up. Rusketus ran around shouting at the rain to go away, before he finally admitted defeat, came running back in, and farted his disgust.

He is so classy.

You stay safe and dry, too!

I'm somewhat disappointed that I don't have more impact on my children when I tell them off for doing something dangerous. Perhaps I need to hire you. If you walked all the way over here, you'd certainly manage your 10000 steps per day! :D

Also feeling you on the stiff muscles, though. Germans call it 'Muskelkater' -- your muscles have a hangover. So brilliant.
blamebramptonblamebrampton on April 18th, 2015 02:11 pm (UTC)
Germans are magnificent at nouns and descriptors.
ecosopherecosopher on April 18th, 2015 03:28 pm (UTC)
They really are.

I'm usually the adult running around like a Muppet, so I think when I suddenly come over all The Man, they are stunned into action. And I don't want to think how many steps that would be!
Dragonfly_lilydragonfly_lily on April 12th, 2015 02:58 pm (UTC)
Don't you love children that can think logically and critically and can see their role in things? Don't you wish adults did, too?
blamebramptonblamebrampton on April 18th, 2015 02:08 pm (UTC)
Yes and YES! Why do so many people grow out of it?

You need to master the bull whip. That would allow you to smite any fleeing co-workers.

*nods*

You are a genius, Jae! I even own a fedora

I also have a new fitness tracker, but I am embarrassed to admit that my target for the day is much less than 10,000, as the aim is to keep moving and maintain some fitness, without overdoing it (I have virtually no iron at the moment, so am easily exhausted).
blamebramptonblamebrampton on April 18th, 2015 02:07 pm (UTC)
Mr B was just discussing your agelessness with me the other day, so you're doing something right! Have you considered the blood of the young? Not all the young, just the annoying ones.
hometimehometime on April 21st, 2015 01:28 am (UTC)
Well, it probably helps that you and MrB usually see me with my hair covered - yesterday Xanthe asked me why my hair was all white! And if I don't get these iron levels up, I get to go on an exciting trip to the hospital for a transfusion, although I suspect that they will give me an iron transfusion before I get the blood of the young.
It was lovely to see You and MrB at Festival, although all too brief!

The second half of the year is going to be your second half of the year! :D
blamebramptonblamebrampton on April 18th, 2015 02:05 pm (UTC)
Yes! Great things will arrive with July! :-)

Kids. I shout at them all the time. It's terrible. At least you got something out of it!

Wow, 10K. That's a lot of words, and a lot of steps. How does that compare to actual distance, if you know?
blamebramptonblamebrampton on April 18th, 2015 02:04 pm (UTC)
I like to think that shouting equals learning. Alas, it's probably learning that adults are shouty.

Not that far, about 7km, which is just a reasonable day's walking. The thing is not having days off... But at least I am doing better with steps than daily French practise"
l.m.incandescent on April 19th, 2015 01:58 am (UTC)
Is it reasonable? It seems pretty impressive to me. I have no idea how much I walk in a day, but I'm sure it isn't that much.

I'm terrible at my daily language practice. If I'm lucky, it's monthly practice, unfortunately.
