Local advent-ures in joy and woe!
England stormed to a decisive victory in the Second Test today, one step closer to retaining the Ashes, and winning in Australia. And before you Americans tune out, let me reach the woe part of this post -- Stuart Broad is injured and will have to go home to recuperate. This means we will see no more of this:

or this

until well into 2011. raitala  and I believe he should spend the rest of the Ashes appearing on the fourth plinth every Sunday. He could even do his physio and have massages there. People should be able to book in for 15 minute time slots to reassure him he is still loved, and Australia House could provide some lovely heat lamps to keep everyone toasty and remind them of the weather down here. If anyone knows Boris Johnson personally, we feel he could be prodded in this direction with surprising ease!

Am all in support of this. Can't see BoJo not helping, esp. as he and Stuart seem to share a hairdresser...
blamebramptonblamebrampton on December 7th, 2010 01:41 pm (UTC)
He could set up a webcam, too, for the rest of us. All very easy!

His bat's shaped funny, but he is very pretty. ;)

Oh hush, cricketing nations are the global majority, you know! ;-)
Loyaulte Me Lie: wrong'unshocolate on December 7th, 2010 01:34 pm (UTC)
I think that that is a wonderful plan.

You have thought it all the way through... what could go wrong!
blamebramptonblamebrampton on December 7th, 2010 01:42 pm (UTC)
rai suggested tea and cake be laid on, too, so he doesn't go hungry. Really, it would be for the good of the country.

Your posts are making me want to watch test match cricket. Test match cricket is boring. I think you might be just ever-so-slightly evil. I am even googling the players, which by the way hasn't been a total loss because there are lots of pretty ones these days, so, your evilness is forgiven.

I don't mind watching when they play in their pyjama's though because that is much more exciting.

Sign me up for the live webcam feed. Please and thank you.

(Pointless comment is pointless, me thinks it is time for the blanket show.)
blamebramptonblamebrampton on December 8th, 2010 01:06 pm (UTC)
It's not boring! It's exciting! Just with periods of recuperation and reflection between the really exciting bits ;-)

And I am certain that the Selectors have finally started to listen to my pleas that they choose on prettiness, so that if we lose there is a comfort and if we win, they look even better in the footage.

Exhausted by the war, young Mr Malfoy sought a Muggle occupation that would reward him with copious amounts of cash while not requiring degrading effort ...

Stop that! Evil woman. If you make me watch test match cricket because I'm writing smutty slashfic in my head about all the participants, I shall never forgive you.

...although I may need to write that scenario...

Re: Advent-ures in woe and woe
Oh come on, if the Aussies win all the time, things are boring!

Re: Advent-ures in woe and woe
I am not so patriotic that I don't see your point, but a little tongue-in-cheek melodrama is all part of the fun, no? And the poms did win last time.

Maybe it's post-pregnancy hormones talking, but he's HOT.

I think that I need to get our Fourth Plinth Plan up and going, it's certainly more rational than the Bring Back Shane Warne one they have over here. Ah ... so pretty! Thank you!
Pureblood Princessraitala on December 8th, 2010 03:27 pm (UTC)
You're welcome. It was a pleasure. No really.

I'll mention it to Boris when I go up to town...
... for the club Crimbo luncheon.

I can't imagine he'd say no.

I believe Femme and Noe are already working on Cook/Broad H/C fic. (I am an evil influence.)

Bears repeating
I am an evil influence.

To be sure.

I am an evil influence.

When you're good, you're good, but when you're evil, you're BETTER!
Admiral of Strange Shipsnoeon on December 7th, 2010 06:40 pm (UTC)
LOVELY!
*sigh*

Poor Broady. Other than that, the cricket's been great, but he will be missed this series.

(All the more reason to enshrine him in other ways)

Thank you for these!
ladyjanevaladyjaneva on December 7th, 2010 08:11 pm (UTC)
Oh he's GOODLOOKING!

Where can I meet him? Is there a GF I need to get rid of?

I am Woeful and Distraught for the dear boy. :(

*gets distracted by the pretty*
Meredyth: Woemeredyth_13 on December 7th, 2010 09:48 pm (UTC)
ONOES!

They broke Malfoy? WTF?

I don't watch the cricket (long story) but mostly right now I don't watch because if I do England will not win (I am that much of a bad omen for teams I support).

Now who will cuddle AC at nights and keep him happy? Oh, the tragedy of it all.

*cries*
Shezanshezan on December 7th, 2010 11:37 pm (UTC)
...too, too pretty for words. Yum.
shu_shu_sleepsshu_shu_sleeps on December 8th, 2010 07:50 am (UTC)
Dang it - they are outplaying us and have a really good looking team - with bonus blonds! I believe your cunning plan should be put into action....
Cerise: Embankmentwivern on December 8th, 2010 08:39 am (UTC)
I am loving listening to the cricket so far this summer. I'd be watching but they frown on us bringing a TV to work. *g*

Poor wee soul. Did you see his tummy?
blamebramptonblamebrampton on December 8th, 2010 09:56 pm (UTC)
I did! I felt shame for taking pleasure in his pain, the poor dear.
