Quick catch-ups
Why I chose an elegant wee doggy rather than a headless chicken for my icon is a mystery for the ages ...

For those who asked, here is the striped hair:

The colour is a bit washed out due to flash use, but I failed in my mission to take a photo in daylight hours today. And I can't believe there's no cat on that tower! The flowery hair clips are trotted out for vision purposes on days when the floppy hair is positively Borisian, and the angle is what happens when a short person sticks their own arm out and up behind to take a shot ;-)

In fandom news, there is an hysterically fun party over at rickey_a 's journal where everyone who wants to is handing out Golden Penes. It's the Uplifting Fandom Award of our time, and I am over there in a minute to hand out a few myself, and send kisses for ones received. That woman is a GENIUS!

In city life news: on our walk back form Newtown tonight, we came across a T-shirt and pair of shorts, then a reflective vest and tie. 'Probably someone raiding the charity clothes bin,' said Mr Brammers.

'Or someone getting changed and left it on the roof of their car as they drove out of the pub carpark,' I suggested.

We walked another 20 metres and there was a small pile of women's clothing on the footpath. 'Performance art?' I proffered.

'Absinthe at the pub, they all went mad, stripped off and ran through Erko,' he countered. 'It's happened before ...'

By then we had come across yet another pile of clothes. 'It was the Rapture!' I declared. 'All the evangelicals have been called home to the Lord!'

He looked back up the street. 'Three ... yeah, that'd be right for around here.'

And, in cheery news, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to sunachan  for today!

And a very very happy if slightly late HAPPY BIRTHDAY to goddessriss , southernbets  and pinkpantyplldwn  for yesterday. The three of you are such gorgeous souls, I hope you had wonderful days.

In a similar vein, I hope that the marvellous droolfangrrl , deannawol , maevemist  and autumn_veela  had wonderful days recently, and that the rest of your friends are FAR less crap than I am.

Finally, if you have a chance to watch the Australian ABC young adult balletcentric series Dance Academy, take it! Like me, you will at first be impressed by the superior scripts and acting, as well as rather fine dancing from the young cast. And then the kids will go off for a lesson with Patrick, and the dancer playing Patrick will do something to demonstrate a move to the young folk, after which you will find yourself shouting impatiently at the screen: 'SURELY those children need to be in a pas de deux or boy's technique class now!'

Thanks! There's a fair bit more of it, but I was deluded in the combination of my arm length and camera's focal length ;-)

Magnificent 'do'! Love the colour :)

Thanks! I am very happy with it, especially as it is not bleeding colour everywhere!

It has Tara Morice from Strictly Ballroom!!! I really, really hope it ends up on UK telly somehow.
blamebramptonblamebrampton on June 16th, 2010 04:08 pm (UTC)
It does! I always thought she was about my age because I sat next to her at a political do once and we had loads of cultural references in common, but it turns out that she is old enough to look like the proper grown-up she looks like in the show.

It's really very good, in addition to having a really hot male dance teacher ;-)

The best thing about those photos are always the housely surroundings, and of course enlargable bookshelf perusal.

I don't get the ballet shouting, meep.

I'm also too lazy or maybe I don't want to know but have you stopped replying to comments? This is a chicken-egg question in the offing, hence ties in with your opener.
blamebramptonblamebrampton on June 17th, 2010 06:56 pm (UTC)
Not stopped as much as am hopelessly behind with and out of order :-)

And that's the art shelves for the most part with a bit of Language shelf off to the right. And it is solely the gorgeousness of the ballet teacher that has me shouting for more time to be spent in the classes, that and I feel better watching thirty- and forty-something men with pervy eyes than I do teens and twentysomethings ;-)

What are you still doing up! You should have used frozen cats to keep the food cold and gone to bed! Oh wait, it's morning already, innit.

Ah, yes. At the two performances I was at, I was perturbed to later have the very skinny boy in very horrid clothes sit next to me and be very awkward and teenie, unlike the Teorema-like persona he'd been on stage.
blamebramptonblamebrampton on June 18th, 2010 04:07 pm (UTC)
Yes, young ballet boys can be overly skinny. I quite like the fashion for them to be more muscular at the moment, far more attractive!

And I did go back to bed with the frozen cats, who snuggled against me until I nearly fell off the bed!

It was less the skinny than the really really ugly clothes. "Awkward" sounds fine until it comes in a package reminiscent of the stinky dandruffy school colleagues with bogers and and stuff :)
Worse was the older really skinny dancer the other night. It was interesting to see him and a her in that very stringy pasty condition, and all other cast members either of the perfect slim, lightly muscled or of the athletically muscled variety. This older guy was annoyed about comparisons to epilepsy, which I understood, but he kept saying he sees what he created - ie his moving body - as the most beautiful thing, and it just really didn't look it. Ignore babble, you'd need context, I know.

Aw.

He has often been known to pull out a sword and wave it around, but is yet to shoot holes in our living room. I, of course, remain his faithful chronicler ;-)

How long is your hair? I can't see the end :P
blamebramptonblamebrampton on June 17th, 2010 06:24 pm (UTC)
It's short for me at the moment, only waist length, I usually wear it around my hips, but all these regular hair cuts take a toll! I am a committed long hair person because when it is short it goes in every direction and takes forever to get under control :-)

Female fraud cons hairdresser MEGAN LEVY
June 18, 2010 - 5:47PM

A female fraud tricked a hairdresser into giving her a three-hour hair colour before skipping from the salon yesterday, leaving photocopied bank notes in her wake.

But Dandenong salon owner Rena Mirra believes the conwoman will be easy to track down - she has a new vibrant red hairdo that will make her stand out from the crowd.

The woman, who is in her mid-30s, walked into Charisse CHD Hair yesterday morning "with six-inch regrowth" and asked if she could be squeezed into the schedule, Mrs Mirra said.

The woman opted for a distinctive style for her long locks, which had faded to a strawberry blonde.

She had three colours applied to her hair, including foils that were an "exceptionally vibrant red" and arranged in stripes all over her head.

"I may not recognise her face in a hurry but the hairstyle is like walking around with a mohawk, it would be really easy to identify," Mrs Mirra said.

Mrs Mirra said she had consulted with the woman on the price beforehand, and the woman had opted for the more expensive $200 colour.

But midway through the colour Mrs Mirra began to suspect something was awry.

"She nodded off a few times between her service and it sort of did raise my awareness," she said.

"I asked her if she was on any medication that I needed to know about. She just said when she sat still for long periods of time, she just got tired because she was a very active person."

When the colour was rinsed off, the woman became agitated and said she needed to check on her dog, which she had left in the car.

She left her gloves on the chair and her handbag on the floor before walking out in her robe.

"She walked out the front of the salon and hopped in her vehicle and she nearly caused an accident, she drove off quite wildly," Mrs Mirra.

When she did not return Mrs Mirra called police, who later opened the handbag in a bid to determine the woman's identity.

"There was an empty packet of cigarettes in her handbag, there was a wallet which contained another previous hairdressing card, and a whole lot of photocopied money. When it was opened in front of me it was full of 20s and 10s. Really bizarre," she said.

Mrs Mirra said she was speaking out so that other hairdressers would not be duped like she had.

AHAHAHAHAHA! And no, of course not, I would never run out without paying and I cannot drive :-P

(It's almost worth the $200 for the story that hairdresser has to tell ...)
